Topeka Cultural Center
The Topeka Cultural Center is designed for the six indigenous nations of the Kaw River. The purpose of the design is to honor the Six Nations, while culturally educating visitors. It is important to remember that each of these tribes possess a vibrant current presence and is not simply a culture from the past. The design aims to reclaim an area of land within Topeka and for the architecture to represent culture.
Eureka Housing Project
The Eureka Housing Project is low residential and designed for the rural nature of the town. The design aims to ensure the survival of the small town of Eureka, Kansas by incorporating housing and other amenities for the younger generation. Each unit allows for personalization of yard area for residents to make an identity for themselves and their homes.
Council Grove Library
Council Grove Library celebrates community, using it as an anchor for which the design circulates. Having a centralized gathering space on the site helps the community of Council Grove to grow and thrive. The heaviness of the building curates the idea of a landmark arising from the ground taking form of the Flint Hills with which the site is located within. The curvature and torsion of the building draws you in and centralizes you in a hub of knowledge.
